Everton players to stay away from Finch Farm despite Wayne Rooney claims

Everton's players will continue to train individually after the decision was taken to keep Finch Farm under lockdown.

The Blues closed their training base 10 days ago as a precautionary measure after an unnamed member of the squad reported symptoms consistent with coronavirus.

Dan Meis told Everton fans his stadium dream and they are already making it happen

A review of the situation is on-going and though all club premises were understood to be closed until at least today, the club are to continue with the shutdown.

Wayne Rooney, writing in his Sunday Times column, had said Everton were “due back” at training tomorrow but the ECHO has been told that is not the case.

Everton's players have been working through individual fitness programmes ever since the closure of Finch Farm and will continue to do so with the doors to the club's Halewood facility remaining shut.

Tottenham Hotspur, for example, only brought a halt to first-team training at their Enfield base earlier this week following the Premier League's decision to extend the suspension on games until, at least, April 30.
