Everton player ratings vs Brighton as four men star but Jordan Pickford at fault

Jordan Pickford - 5

Hardly had anything to do until the closing stages of the first half, and made a real mess of an easy attempt he should have caught to allow Brighton an equaliser. Dealt well with further pressure in the second half.

Seamus Coleman - 8

A fantastic display from the Everton captain despite being brought off early through injury. His play when under pressure was exceptional ans his engine to get forward was top quality throughout.

Yerry Mina - 8

Coped well with the task of marking Aaron Connolly for the most part of the game, giving the Brighton striker little to work with. Came up with a great header to put Everton back in front and put the cherry on the cake of another solid display.

Michael Keane - 7

Similar to his partner in central defence. The visitors had little up front and much of that was down to the work of both Keane and Mina. The England international has been in great form recently and this was a continuation of that.

Lucas Digne - 7

Wasn't troubled by Tariq Lamptey getting forward in the first half and played a key role in the build-up to at least two of Everton's goals through his determination to get forward and qualities in the final third.

Tom Davies - 7

Filled Allan's role well in a defensive sense, making sure he was in the right place at the right time to make some important tackles. The midfielder then moved to right back to cover for Seamus Coleman's injury and performed admirably once more.

Abdoulaye Doucoure - 8

He was absolutely everywhere for Everton this afternoon. Whether it was covering at right back following a marauding Coleman run or breaking into the box to allow James Rodriguez a chance to score, this was a brilliant display from the summer signing.

Gylfi Sigurdsson - 7

Was clearly determined to prove what he could do this afternoon. His effort levels throughout the 90 minutes were through the roof both in terms of getting forward and defensively, and his display was capped with a great assist for Dominic Calvert-Lewin's opener.

James Rodriguez - 8

Not the best that we've seen from the Colombia international since he came to the club, but he comes away from the game with two goals and an assist. His quality is unquestionable and he is already so important to Everton.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin - 7

Another game, another goal. He's making the Premier League look easy at the minute and bagged his sixth of the season with a fantastic leap from a great Sigurdsson cross. Aside from that, there wasn't much in it for the striker.

Richarlison - 6

Picked up a knock on his ankle very early in the game which might have hampered him throughout, until he was eventually taken out by Lamptey. Didn't get the chance to show much in an attacking sense.

SUBS

Alex Iwobi - 7

Really grew into proceedings in the second half and looked a real threat creatively, including setting up Everton's third goal with a great ball to the back post for Rodriguez to finish.

Fabian Delph - 7

Slotted into his role in central midfield very comfortably once again.

Theo Walcott - 6

Not given a lot of time to make an impact in the final third.
