Everton player ratings as Yerry Mina shines but Andre Gomes struggles

Robin Olsen 6 –  Almost made a howler on his home debut as Edinson Cavani pressed him inside the box but made up for it with several fine saves. Distribution was erratic and he could do nothing about the goals.

Seamus Coleman 6 –  Produced a heroic block to deny Donny van de Beek in the opening stages and you wouldn't know he hadn't started a game for six weeks. Could not get forward as often as he would like.

Yerry Mina 7 -  Put his body on the line to ensure it stayed level during the early onslaught. Good in possession and stepped up his performance when Michael Keane lapsed. Superb positioning at times.

Michael Keane 6 –  Lucky not to hand Manchester United an opener after miscontrolling from Alex Iwobi near the edge of his own box but eventually improved.

Ben Godfrey 6 –  Mason Greenwood offered real problems early on but he held his nerve to grow into the game. Got forward when he could and did what was required for the most part.

Abdoulaye Doucoure 6 –  Energetic in the press but struggled to have much of an impact as United dominated large parts. Did not have a chance to play on the front-foot yet remained disciplined in his task. Replaced by Tosun immediately after Edinson Cavani scored.

Andre Gomes 5 –  Too often played backwards. He was sloppy in possession and slow in the press and lucky to stay on at half-time. Shortly after, though, Carlo Ancelotti had seen enough. Replaced by Davies.

Gylfi Sigurdsson 6 –  Turned into Lionel Messi for a moment and cut through the United defence to force a smart block out of Harry Maguire. Denied a free-kick wonder-goal by Dean Henderson. Faded in the second-half and looked tired.

Alex Iwobi 6 –  Caught out of position a couple of times and swapped flanks with Richarlison for a spell. Remained committed with his work-rate but couldn't find his range with the final ball.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin 6 –  Starved of service but his work-rate and willingness to work cannot be denied. Everton have to find a way to get his aerial ability involved in games when the margins are so tight.

Richarlison 6 –  Not as involved as he would have liked and switched flanks with Alex Iwobi during the first-half in an attempt to liven things up. Subbed for Bernard after a nasty collision with Eric Bailly early in the second-half.

Bernard (on for Richarlison, 55) 6 –  Some nice touches as usual but ineffective going forward. Spent most of his time tracking back and contesting a midfield battle.

Tom Davies (on for Gomes, 60) 6 –  Found it a struggle to get going after replacing Gomes and was sat down by Paul Pogba inside the penalty area at one point. A difficult game to be thrown into with Everton on the back foot.

Cenk Tosun (on for Doucoure, 88) –  Gave the ball away for the second.
