Everton’s rock at the back, he helped steady the ship and get his captain Coady out of jail after he trod on the ball and made several timely interceptions.

Plenty of entertaining moments again from Everton’s biggest signing of the summer, he always provided an outlet in the centre of the park and wasn’t scared to take the ball in tight situations but remains a precocious work in progress.

Bright and breezy getting into the pockets of space in the engine room, he provided the assist for Maupay’s goal with a well-placed pass to the new boy on the edge of the area.

More perspiration than inspiration on this occasion for Everton’s in-demand man of the summer, he worked hard on both flanks but was booked for a foul on substitute Cornet and unable to produce much end product before making way.

Looked a constant threat with his pace, he kept West Ham United’s defenders on their toes throughout but should have done better on a couple of occasions when his fleet-footed prowess got him into promising positions.

Worked hard to link up play before his goal and then despatched a moment of inspiration to break the deadlock with a smart turn and finish that displayed the predatory instincts that Everton’s attack has been missing.
