Everton player ratings as Mason Holgate and several others dreadful against Man City

Jordan Pickford - 8

You've got to feel sorry for Jordan Pickford in many ways. He pulled off a number of fantastic saves again throughout the 90 minutes but he still found himself on the losing side in comfortable fashion. The England international didn't deserve that.

Mason Holgate - 3

Didn't look comfortable when back at right back and that continued when moved to the centre. He was caught in two minds for the first goal and didn't close down the shot, and then was turned far too easily for Aguero to score his first.

Michael Keane - 3

Got caught out massively when trying to dribble forward for the second goal, and perhaps could be looked at for the first in not closing down quickly enough. In the second period, things didn't improve for the England hopeful.

Ben Godfrey - 5

Looked the most comfortable of the defenders barring one backpass to Pickford which was wayward in the first half, but found himself caught out more often in the second.. Made some good blocks and interceptions when at centre-back but it wasn't enough.

Lucas Digne - 5

Was forced into more defensive work than being able to influence things going forward, but did some good tackles - one on De Bruyne in particular standing out in the first period.

Allan - 4

Was able to bring the ball forward a lot more in the first half and set up a good chance for Richarlison in doing so. He made more tackles than anyone else on the pitch in what was a tough afternoon for the Blues.

Tom Davies - 4

Had a tough task in trying to deal with Man City's midfield and wasn't been able to get on the ball as much as he might have liked. He gave the ball away far too cheaply on the edge of his box to allow Aguero to score his first of the afternoon.

Abdoulaye Doucoure - 4

Played in multiple positions already across the match but couldn't really get to grips with the performance in any of them. In particular his use of possession was not at the levels Evertonians would have expected.

Gylfi Sigurdsson - 4

His penalty miss in the first half ended up proving very costly for the Blues as City went on to blow away the visitors in the second period. He was replaced by Bernard on the hour mark.

Richarlison - 4

Picked up a very early booking in the game and had to be careful for the rest of proceedings to make sure he didn't get sent off. Did well to win the penalty, however, which earns a point.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin - 4

Looked sharp in the opening stages particularly, forcing a good save from Ederson when the score was still 0-0. He might have done better with that chance, and got nothing of note afterwards.

SUBS

Alex Iwobi - 4

Came into this match when it was already well beyond Everton so there was little he was able to do.

Bernard - 4

Similar to Iwobi, it was an absolutely thankless task for the Brazilian to be brought on here.

Niels Nkounkou - N/A

Came on too late to pick up a mark but had his moments of looking sharp.
