Jordan Pickford - 6
He must be so frustrated. Nothing he could do about any of the goals as mistakes in front of him took effect. Produced a great save to deny a deflected Adam Lallana effort.
Jonjoe Kenny - 5
Arguably the strongest of the defence, typified with a smart assist for Anthony Gordon's second goal.
Ben Godfrey - 5
His recovery pace got him back into good areas to stop Brighton from being even further ahead at the break, but he couldn't stop general confusion in the centre of defence on too many occasions.
Michael Keane - 3
Lost his man far too easily at the back post for Brighton's second goal and gave the ball away very cheaply in the build-up to the third. Those mistakes will always prove costly in the Premier League.
Mason Holgate - 4
Was caught out a couple of times down his side in the opening 45 minutes and nearly angered Evertonians with a very loose cross-field pass in the second. His brilliant tackle to deny Neal Maupay before the third goal deserved a lot better.
Seamus Coleman - 3
Playing left wing-back was not comfortable and that was clear to see from early on. He improved in the second period.
- Who should Everton keep and sell in January?
Abdoulaye Doucoure - 4
Was not able to get his foot on the ball at all in Everton's two-man midfield, and gave the ball away far too often - including a cheap misplaced pass in the build-up to Brighton's decider.
Allan - 5
Similar to his midfield teammate, the Brazilian struggled to have a real impact in the first half. He improved in the second period and nearly scored with a rasping drive from outside the box which was tipped over the bar.
Anthony Gordon - 8
Everton's most lively player by far. His creativity was a constant thorn in the side of the Brighton defence and he fully deserved both of the goals he got, even if the first needed a big deflection.
Demarai Gray - 7
Everton's other creative spark in the side. His crosses into the box were top quality throughout and his ability to dribble at the Brighton defence caused them issues.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin - 5
Really didn't get many touches of the ball throughout the 90 minutes and didn't have a lot of clear-cut opportunities to score. He did, however, miss a glorious chance with a penalty in the first half which he sent over the bar.

Booing the striker onto the pitch helped no-one.

Came on too late to change anything.
