Everton player ratings as entire team dreadful but two abysmal at Brentford

Jordan Pickford - 6

Was called into action much more often in the first half than the second, and was on hand to collect some important crosses and make some decent saves. Again, there was little he could do about conceding in the end.

Seamus Coleman - 4

His passes down the right flank too often didn't find their intended targets, with a number of long balls causing frustration for the fans and his teammates. Everton had little threat at all down that side until Demarai Gray was introduced.

Ben Godfrey - 5

Made a strong tackle in the opening minutes of the game but was essentially quiet throughout the rest of the match. In fairness, Brentford did nothing in the second period to really test him in that sense.

Michael Keane - 5

Made some strong interceptions but has also got caught out on a couple of occasions on a Brentford counter in the first period. He won a lot more duels after the break but couldn't get his side on the front foot.

Lucas Digne - 5

Tried his best to offer an outlet on the left flank, and was better defensively than the majority of his teammates in the first half, but his crosses were generally not accurate enough to cause issues for the hosts.

Abdoulaye Doucoure - 5

Never really got up to the pace of the game when trying to get forward and make passes to his teammates. He did make a vital challenge in the first half to stop it being 2-0, however.

Allan - 5

Similarly to his midfield partner, Allan just didn't really manage to get to grips with the match, giving the ball away far too often in the first half. Not his best performance again.

Andros Townsend - 4

Was perhaps a little unlucky to give away a penalty as it was clearly an accident, but he can have little complaint. His attacking output was generally below-par by the usually high standards he's set himself this season.

Alex Iwobi - 5

Looked to be having something of a creative influence in brief periods of this match, either taking someone on or trying to lay on a through ball. However, nothing really came of any of it.

Anthony Gordon - 5

Looked like a threat on occasion down the left hand side, getting into some dangerous positions for crosses into the box, but he didn't manage to create many clear chances.

Salomon Rondon - 5

Can probably count himself unlucky to have not won a penalty in the first half. He got into much better attacking positions and actually had a few attempts on goal in this match, but that's not saying much.

Demarai Gray - 6

Everton's best outfield player only got about 25 minutes from the bench. His deliveries into the box were excellent, and not read by his teammates.
