Everton player ratings as Asmir Begovic and Andros Townsend impress but others miss chance

Asmir Begovic 8

Very encouraging first outing for the club's new goalkeeper who produced a couple of excellent saves. Saved two penalties in the shoot-out.....and scored one!

Seamus Coleman 6

Typically solid pre-season performance from the experienced club captain.

Mason Holgate 6

Used the ball well early on, with some raking passes. Steady otherwise.

Ben Godfrey 6

Given a workout in the 30 degrees heat as Millonarios favoured attacking down Everton's left.

Lucas Digne 6

Needing to play his way back to full fitness after the thigh injury he picked up in Euro 2020. Excellent cross to find Kean, though

Allan 7

Friendly game or competitive fixture, Allan plays one way. Won his fair share of tackles

Abdoulaye Doucoure 6

A second pre-season outing and still in need of more matches to rediscover the rhythm he had before injury struck in February.

Andros Townsend 8

Very lively first outing for Townsend who smacked the bar with a powerful effort from just inside the area

James Rodriguez 6

Got better as the first-half wore on but failed to dazzle in his first ever performance in front of Evertonians

Alex Iwobi 6

Saw quite a lot of the ball through his 70 plus minutes on the field but unable to make much use of it.

Moise Kean 6

Left to rue missing a good chance when he headed Digne's cross over the bar.

Substitutes

Jonjoe Kenny 6 (on for Coleman '46)

Typically, committed display from the Academy graduate. Got forward whenever he could. Produced a Panenka penalty in the shoot-out.

Andre Gomes 7 (on for Doucoure '46)

Played the through-ball which led to the penalty for Everton's equaliser. Bright in moments. Converted his penalty in the shoot-out.

Nathan Broadhead 7 (on for Kean '46)

Not an easy task playing as the lone striker but won the spot-kick from which the Blues levelled. Also had chances to score. Made no mistake with his spot-kick.

Anthony Gordon 7 (on for Townsend '46)

Visibly eager to take another opportunity to impress Benitez and helped Everton improve after the break. Spot-kick hit the bar.

Demarai Gray 8 (on for Rodriguez '46)

Confidently converted the penalty to draw Everton level after Broadhead was fouled. Repeated the trick in the shoot-out. Looked very comfortable in the No10 role.

Michael Keane 7 (on for Holgate '61)

Positioning was, typically, spot on as he helped shore up Everton's defence for the final half an hour. Scored in the penalty shoo-out.

Joe Anderson 6 (on for Lucas Digne '61)

Excellent first-team exposure for the young defender after he signed a new one year contract with the club. Converted his spot-kick.

Jean-Philippe Gbamin 7 (on for Allan '61)

The defensive midfielder was able to showcase some of his ability with the ball, in his cameo. Very cool penalty in the shoot-out

Lewis Gibson 6 (on for Godfrey '73)

More senior experience at Everton for the young defender who has returned from a tough season on loan. Confident penalty.

Tom Davies 6 (on for Iwobi '73)

Asked to play on the right-wing for the closing stages so needs to operate centrally to catch Benitez's eye. Scored in penalty.
