Everton player ratings against Chelsea as Gylfi Sigurdsson good but another man stars

Pickford 8

A fine, finger-tip save forced Reece James' effort onto the post. There were one or two nervy moments but he's back in form, for sure.

Holgate 8

In Ancelotti's latest bid to find a short-term solution to his right-back problem, he picked Holgate to play there. It worked.

Keane 8

The ultra-consistent Keane's position was spot on all night. Leader's performance at the back

Mina 8

Seemed to relish the tussle with the in-form Giroud and played well, for the second week running, alongside Keane.

Godfrey 9

The best Everton player on the pitch. The squad's Mr Versatile proved an hour at left-back against Burnley was no one-off. He was superb here against one of the most lethal attack in the division.

Iwobi 8

He has never played better for the club. Combined aggressive and committed defensive work with a threat going forward. Final ball would let him down on the odd occasion but still a good night's work.

Doucoure 8

Got through a ton of the work that often goes unheralded or unseen. Mopped up in front of the back four time and time again. A block from Tim Werner, when Pickford spilled the ball, was vital.

Allan 8

An error-strewn first half an hour at Burnley aside, the 29-year-old has started to claw back his form. This was the latest step in the direction of the heights he reached on the opening day.

Sigurdsson 8

As cool a penalty as you'll see and almost added a second with a free-kick. But he mucked in with his team-mates defensively and repaid Ancelotti's faith.

Richarlison 8

One of Richarlison's most impressive qualities is his ability to deliver a performance for the team when backs are against the wall. This was one of those moments.

Calvert-Lewin 8

A throwback piece of centre-forward play, from the now league's leading poacher, won Everton the penalty from which they opened the scoring. Selfless performance.

Subs

Gomes (on for Sigurdsson '83) 7

Used the ball well when he came on and helped Everton see out the win.

Davies (on for Iwobi '86) 7

Did exactly what was required from him. Mature cameo.

Kenny (on for Richarlsion '90) 6

Added fresh legs in place of the tired Richarlison.
