Everton play training match at Finch Farm to give Rafa Benitez first look at players in action

Everton played a behind-closed-doors training fixture against Accrington Stanley earlier today.

The Blues defeated the League One outfit 3-0 at Finch Farm this afternoon in a warm-up game.

Everton were not classing the meeting as a friendly and the first official friendly for Rafa Benitez will be later this month in the United States, when the team face Millonarios in the Florida Cup.

Today's game was organised to help Everton's players at the end of their first week of pre-season training.

Details of the match and which players were involved will follow later.

Accrington described Everton's selection as "very strong".

Everton play Millonarios in the early hours of Monday, July 26 UK time before then taking on either Arsenal or Benitez's old club, Inter Milan, in the early hours of Thursday, July 29.

Both friendlies take place in Orlando and will be followed up by a trip to Old Trafford on August 7 to take on Manchester United (5pm) in the club's final preparation game before the visit of Southampton a week later for the start of the new Premier League season.
