Everton open official talks for permanent sale of Bernard

Everton are now hoping to strike a deal with UAE outfit Al-Nasr for the transfer of Bernard.

Official talks have opened between the two clubs over the Brazilian winger who has less than 18 months remaining on his contract.

Bernard has fallen down the pecking order at Everton since the beginning of his second season at the club and has been restricted to just two Premier League starts under Carlo Ancelotti this term.

It is unclear at this stage whether Everton will recoup a transfer fee for Bernard or allow him to leave for free in order to remove his wages - said to be at least £100,000 a week - from the books.

Bernard was an unused substitute in Wednesday night’s draw with Leicester City but it is yet to be confirmed if he’s part of the squad for today’s game with Newcastle.
