Everton officially announce signing of Tim Cahill's son and 12 others

Everton have announced that midfielder Shae Cahill – son of former Blues fan favourite Tim Cahill – is one of the club’s 2021/22 Academy scholars to have signed a full-time agreement.

Cahill junior was born on April 26, 2005, just under a fortnight before his dad netted the second goal in Everton’s 2-0 home win over Newcastle United that put them on the brink of securing a highest-ever Premier League finish of fourth.

The youngster is one of 13 Everton players to have been promoted to Paul Tait’s Under-18s side.

The full list is: Ed Jones (Defender), Harry Wright (Defender), Charlie Wilson (Defender), Jenson Metcalfe (Midfielder), Jack Tierney (Defender), Saja Manafa (Midfielder), Troy Smikle-James (Forward), Owen Barker (Forward), Dylan Graham (Goalkeeper), Halid Djankpata (Midfielder), Sam Coughlan (Midfielder), Isaac Heath (Midfielder), Shae Cahill (Midfielder).

Cahill made 278 appearances during his time at Goodison Park, scoring 68 goals in that spell, before moving to New York Red Bulls in 2012.

He was also was capped 108 times by Australia and is their all-time leading goalscorer (50).

Previous father-and-son duos to have represented the Blues include Scousers Johnny Morrissey senior and junior plus Billy Kenny senior and junior while there was also Llandudno-born stepfather and stepson Jack Humphreys and Gerry Humphreys.
