Everton offer Robin Olsen transfer update as permanent hopes repeated

Everton appear to have shelved plans to try and sign Robin Olsen on a permanent deal this month.

Carlo Ancelotti had previously confirmed the club's intention to turn the goalkeeper's loan from AS Roma into a permanent transfer - and spoke of the switch possibly taking place in the winter transfer window.

But when asked for an update on 31-year-old's situation, the Everton boss revealed that he now did not expect talks to open with the Italian club until after the close of the transfer market.

"No news but the idea is the same to keep him permanent," Ancelotti said.

"In the next few months we are going to talk with Roma about this."

Everton's hopes of signing Olsen permanently had led to speculation the club could try and agree a swap deal with Roma which included Brazilian winger Bernard.

Ancelotti said the Blues still have yet to receive any approach for the player.

"No," he confirmed. "Bernard is our player and he is in the squad for the game.

"He's in a condition and ready to play if the manager puts him in the first XI."
