The boss had already confirmed Vitalii Mykolenko would be restored to the XI and would continue to receive support following Russia's invasion of his home country Ukraine. Mykolenko will captain the Blues this evening.
On the opposite flank, fellow January arrival Patterson has been handed his first Everton start after being forced to wait patiently behind Seamus Coleman in the pecking order.

Andros Townsend, Salomon Rondon, Asmir Begovic and Jarrad Branthwaite are the other players brought into the line-up.
Youngsters Reece Welch, Isaac Price, Ryan Astley and Lewis Dobbin will all wait for their opportunities from the bench on Thursday evening.
