Everton new manager stance confirmed amid Nuno Espirito Santo talks

Everton's search for a new manager has moved into a third week with Nuno Espirito Santo still in the frame.

Reports on Tuesday said talks with the Portuguese coach had hit a snag but the Blues sources were last night rejecting the claims and insisting that the 47-year-old remained in the race.

Rafa Benitez continues to be discussed as a potential replacement for Carlo Ancelotti, who abruptly left for Real Madrid at the start of the start of the month, but Espirito Santo is still widely considered the favourite to take over at Goodison.

But Everton are refusing to hurry their decision and believe that with the players away from Finch Farm until July 5, they still have time to make a considered call on who to replace Ancelotti.

Espirito Santo moved into pole position late last week but while he has been described as a 'strong candidate' by those close to the negotiations, Everton were adamant on Friday night that no decision had been taken and the process to find a new manager remained ongoing.
