Everton new manager - Rafa Benitez appointment confirmation latest

The appointment of Rafa Benitez as Everton's new manager looks likely to move into next week.

Everton continue to finalise the details of the 61-year-old's contract to become successor to Carlo Ancelotti, who quit for Real Madrid on June 1.

Benitez is in regular dialogue with Farhad Moshiri and the club's board and his move to Goodison remains on track.

But the Blues are not expected to be in a position to announce him as the club's fifth new permanent manager in as many years until the next week - at which point the club's search for Ancelotti's replacement will have almost reached a month.

It took Everton 34 days to install Ronald Koeman as the successor to Roberto Martinez, in the summer of 2016, and 39 days to replace the Dutchman with Sam Allardyce in late 2017.

The process to replace Ancelotti will reach 28 days on Tuesday but Benitez could officially be installed as Everton's new boss by that point.
