Everton morning headlines as transfer stance ahead of EFL deadline day outlined

Here are your Everton morning headlines for Saturday, October 10.

Ancelotti urges players to ignore Liverpool hammering ahead of derby

Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti wants his players to forget the fact that Liverpool conceded seven goals in their last game as the Blues prepare to face a “fantastic” team.

Everton head into the Merseyside derby next weekend as Premier League leaders and with a 100% per cent record.

Liverpool were hammered 7-2 by Aston Villa before the international break, but Ancelotti is not allowing himself – or his players – to believe that the Reds are not the team they were.

“We are confident,” he said .

“It doesn’t matter what happened last week, they are still a fantastic team with a fantastic manager.

“It will be a difficult game, but we have confidence.”

“Everton fans made me feel like I belonged” – Amokachi

Former Everton forward Daniel Amokachi has paid tribute to the club’s supporters that made him feel at home after what he admitted was a Premier League culture shock in 1994.

Everton broke their transfer record to sign the Nigerian from Club Brugge for £3million and he joined a very British squad, with Swedish winger Anders Limpar and Australian understudy goalkeeper Jason Kearton the only players born outside the UK.

Amokachi said : “I was really excited to be a young player from Africa, coming to the Premier League.

“My first encounter with the fans was a home game. I went shopping and tried my best to find a blue blazer in Everton’s colours.

“They announced my name and from the time I first walked on to the pitch at Goodison Park, the vibe was there and it made me feel like I belonged there.

“The way the fans reacted, my charisma and flamboyance running from one end to the other end, they took to me from day one.”

Everton looking to reduce squad size ahead of domestic deadline

Everton will keep their options open in the final week of the domestic transfer window.

Links to Bournemouth striker Josh King and Watford winger Ismaila Sarr have been downplayed by Goodison sources, with efforts up until Friday’s deadline likely to be concentrated on moving players out.

Everton signed two players from the EFL in recent months with Abdoulaye Doucoure joining from Watford and Ben Godfrey signing from Norwich City.

But the Blues are hoping to reduce the size of their squad, with Mo Besic and Yannick Bolasie hoping to find a new club in the Championship.

Callum Connolly, Matty Pennington, Nathan Broadhead and Beni Baningime are also available for sale or loan.
