Everton morning headlines as prospect closes in on transfer exit

Here are the Everton morning headlines for Thursday, June 11.

Walcott out but Gomes expected to return

Theo Walcott has joined Yerry Mina and Jean-Philippe Gbamin on the side lines for Everton, having had surgery on an abdominal injury.

He is expected to be out of action for around four weeks, so will miss a large chunk of the Premier League season when it returns.

There is some good news for Carlo Ancelotti, though, as Andre Gomes should be returning to training next week, and may be available to face Liverpool.

Everton's squad is light on right-wingers but Walcott's absence could open up opportunities for either Alex Iwobi or Anthony Gordon.

Fraser Hornby off to Reims

Everton are close to reaching an agreement with Stade de Reims for the sale of Fraser Hornby.

The 20-year old striker has spent this season on loan at KV Kortrijk in Belgium, scoring four goals in 14 appearances.

However, the Belgian side have chosen not to sign him, and the Blues are happy for him to leave the club on a permanent deal.

He now looks set to join Ligue Une side Stade de Reims once the French transfer window opens, for a fee believed to be around £1.8million.

Sidibe transfer option elapses

When Everton took Djibril Sidibe on loan from Monaco at the beginning of the season, they negotiated a clause to buy the World Cup winner for around £12.8m.

It is believed they had until June 1 to exercise their option, but the club are no longer willing to pay the previously agreed price in light of their uncertain financial position following the coronavirus crisis.

Everton are hoping to extend Sidibe’s loan until the Premier League season is completed, though.

The deal is due to expire on June 30 but the season will not be completed until toward the end of July.
