Everton morning headlines as new signing Imam Jagne praised

Good morning, Everton fans. Here are your morning headlines for Thursday, November 5.

Ancelotti admits Everton hold advantage over United

Carlo Ancelotti accepts his Everton side have an advantage over Manchester United ahead of their Premier League clash on Saturday.

The Blues host United at Goodison Park in the top-flight’s early kick-off on Saturday, and while Ancelotti has had all week to prepare his side, the beleaguered Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will have had 48 hours given his team were in Turkey to face Istanbul Basaksehir yesterday evening.

While Ancelotti would prefer Everton to be playing every three days, he admits it should help that United have just had a tough away game.

"As I said before, the top teams have a really, really big schedule so it is really difficult for them. So we can take advantage of this on a physical aspect, above all,” he said.

Unsworth on new Everton signing

David Unsworth has been impressed with one of Everton’s summer signings: Swedish midfielder Imam Jagne.

The 17-year-old arrived from BK Hacken last month and has immediately joined up with Unsworth’s Under-23s.

He has made only a couple of substitute appearances thus far, but Unsworth is nonetheless enamoured by what Jagne has offered.

"I'd say when he develops and matures he will be more of a box-to-box midfielder,” he said. “He's got great energy and you don't want to bog him down into a holding midfield role.”

Norwich accounts hint at Dowell value

Kieran Dowell left Everton permanently in the summer, signing for Norwich City.

He scored during his debut against Luton Town in the Carabao Cup and has also appeared twice in the Championship.

The fee for the transfer was undisclosed at the time, but the Canaries’ recently released accounts for 2019/20 do give an indication of what their expenditure on Dowell might have been.

With reference to the two permanent and three loan signings Norwich made, the accounts state “the club is committed to payments of £6.1m in respect of these transactions with further payments due of £4.6m dependent on Club and/or player performance."

Norwich's accounts include the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. The Canaries state they paid £7.1m in rebates to broadcasters and lost £3.1m in season ticket sales as the Premier League returned behind closed doors.
