Unsworth and Baines’ new roles at Everton
Everton legends David Unsworth and Leighton Baines have taken on new and prominent roles at the club.

Baines, who retired at the end of last season, will work with young first-team players as well as under-23s and under-18s in supporting their progress on and off the field.

Mourinho sees Everton as his “direct opponents”
Tottenham Hotspur manager Jose Mourinho has claimed that Everton are top six contenders – and he considers the Blues as “direct opponents” this season.
Carlo Ancelotti’s side will face Spurs tomorrow in North London, as the new Premier League season gets underway.
Mourinho, speaking at his pre-match press conference said: “I do see them as top six challengers. I think the 10-point distance last season was just the consequence of how strange last season was.
“When Carlo goes to Everton, it’s easy to understand what Everton wants, want Carlo.
“Their ambitions, then in the transfer market they bought quality, they bought players that know Carlo very well, they worked with him in previous clubs and a good squad becomes a much stronger squad.”
