Everton morning headlines as 'final obstacle' for Abdoulaye Doucoure transfer revealed

Here are your Everton morning headlines for Monday, 7 September.

Allan’s parallels with key Man City man

The tenacious qualities of Everton’s new signing Allan are likely to win him more fans in Merseyside than his native Brazil.

In that regard, there are parallels to be drawn with Manchester City’s Fernandinho, who has been a key figure in their domestic dominance of recent years.

“Allan, like Fernandinho, acts in a way that does not stand out in terms of creating the kind of beautiful play which enchants fans,” Rio de Janeiro-based football journalist Rodrigo Calvozzo told the ECHO.

“On the other hand, he is a player of great physical vigour, which is valued as being very important for any coach.

“It is natural to think that Allan is the kind of player who is appreciated more by coaches than some fans, especially in Brazil, where attackers or creative midfielders are much more valued.”

Gary Neville’s Toffees dig after Carabao Cup draw

Former Manchester United right-back Gary Neville has had his say after Everton were drawn against Salford City in the second round of the Carabao Cup.

Neville is one of the prominent investors behind the League Two outfit, alongside Singaporean businessman Peter Lim and fellow ‘Class of 92’ alumni Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes, Nicky Butt, David Beckham and brother Phil Neville.

“Who have we got in the third round?!” joked Neville on Twitter, suggesting Salford will make it past Carlo Ancelotti’s men.

The final obstacle to pass before sealing Doucoure deal

According to French outlet Foot Mercato (via Inside Futbol ), Watford midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure has passed his medical with Everton but there’s one more obstacle to pass before the deal can be sealed.

It’s said that there are some legal details that need to be ironed out between all the parties involved, but there’s no suggestion it could scupper the switch at the 11th hour.

Once that’s out of the way, the 27-year-old Frenchman will put pen to paper on a three-year deal with the option of a further year.
