Everton morning headlines as Dominic Calvert-Lewin admits 'bittersweet' England experience

Here are your Everton morning headlines for Friday, 9 October.

Calvert-Lewin on ‘bittersweet’ England debut goal

Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin admits he felt a tinge of sadness that his England debut goal was not scored in front of thousands of fans at Wembley.

Calvert-Lewin continued his exceptional start to the season by heading England in front against Wales during a 3-0 win for Gareth Southgate’s side.

“Absolutely,'" he said after scoring his 10th goal of the season for club and country.

"It’s a shame there’s no fans here to celebrate, and if my family could’ve been here.

"It’s bittersweet in that sense, but to score on my debut is the stuff of dreams."

"I’ve worked very hard to get here and it’s felt like a long time, but I’m very pleased to get the opportunity and score on my debut.”

Olsen loan doesn’t include option to buy

Everton do not have the option to buy Robin Olsen after capturing the goalkeeper on a season-long loan from Roma.

The 30-year-old Sweden international joined the Blues on deadline day, with Carlo Ancelotti keen to give Jordan Pickford competition in goal.

However, Everton failed to negotiate a clause that would have allowed them to buy Olsen.

Everton did not pay a fee for the stopper but are expected to pay his wages in full.

Theoretically, then, the Premier League side will lose Olsen at the end of the season, which would come as a blow if he were to impress during his loan at Goodison Park.

Bernard may look for January exit - agent

The agent of Everton attacker Bernard has admitted that the Brazilian may seek a move away from Goodison Park in January.

Bernard was linked with a deadline day switch to Roma, although the ECHO understand that the Blues received no inquiries for the 28-year-old.

Bernard is yet to feature for Ancelotti in the league this season with Richarlison preferred on the left wing.

"We tried to convince Everton to let him go, but the English club did not agree. Not even on loan,” his agent Adriano Spodato told LaRoma24 via Sport Witness .

“I think so, the player could be sold outright for around €7m,” Spodato added when asked about a potential move to Roma in January.
