Here are your Everton morning headlines for Saturday, October 3.
Ancelotti praise for Brands
Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti has praised the work of the club’s director of football Marcel Brands as "fantastic" ahead of securing another new signing.
The Blues are closing in on a deal to land 22-year-old defender Ben Godfrey from Norwich City, having already signed Allan, James Rodriguez and Abdoulaye Doucoure this transfer window.
The relationship between Ancelotti and Brands has always appeared strong and the former was once again full of praise for the Dutchman.
“I don't know how long his contract is honestly. What can I say?” Ancelotti replied when asked if Brands deserved a new deal, as per the Echo .
"He is doing a fantastic job and he has done a fantastic job. I have a fantastic relationship with him, the board still has a fantastic relationship with him, if he has to renew the contract I don't know. What can I say? The job that he is doing is really good."
Godfrey undergoes Blues medical
Norwich City central defender Ben Godfrey is undergoing a medical at Everton ahead of completing a £25m transfer.
As outlined by the Echo , the Canaries have already confirmed their star man will not be involved in today’s clash against Norwich City in the Championship.
Bayer Leverkusen, Newcastle and Rennes are said to be among the clubs who held an interest in the 22-year-old, who now looks set to pen a five-year contract at Goodison Park.
Godfrey will join Niels Nkounkou, Allan, James Rodriguez and Abdoulaye Doucoure as the new arrivals at the Toffees this summer.
Fikayo Tomori and Jean-Clair Todibo were said to be other central defensive options considered by Everton.
Rangers boss Gerrard on Besic links
Everton midfielder Muhamed Besic has been linked with a move to Scottish giants Rangers but Steven Gerrard has poured cold water on such reports.
The Bosnian midfielder has spent the past two-and-a-half years out on various loan spells at Middlesbrough and Sheffield United, while he is out of contract at Goodison Park next summer.
The 28-year-old looks set to exit Everton permanently in the near future, but an imminent move to Ibrox has been denied.
"Listen I'm not going to be mentioning any names here today," Gerrard said, as cited by the Echo .
"Someone has just asked me if Mo Besic is up in Glasgow having a medical with Rangers. That would be news to me if he was.
"Nothing has changed in terms of what we're trying to do in the last few days of the window.”
