Everton morning headlines as Blues handed James Rodriguez injury boost and Robin Olsen plea made

Here are your Everton morning headlines for Wednesday, 4 November

Everton confident on James return

James Rodriguez is likely to be available for Everton for their weekend clash against Manchester United, according to the Echo .

Carlo Ancelotti has described the playmaker’s absence as a “small injury”, which is thought to have been sustained in the draw against Liverpool.

The Colombian played against Southampton but was seen holding his hamstring late on and missed the defeat by Newcastle.

But there is now fresh hope that he will return in time for this weekend’s clash against United.

Blues fans want Olsen start

The majority of Everton fans want Robin Olsen to continue in the first-team ahead of Jordan Pickford.

That is according to the results of a poll run on the Echo's Facebook page , with just 25 percent voting for the return of the England international.

Olsen is on a season-long loan from Roma and impressed in the defeat by Newcastle with a string of fine saves.

However, Ancelotti has already said that Pickford will return against Manchester United.

Ancelotti speaks on Tosun

The future of Cenk Tosun is still unclear after Ancelotti spoke ambiguously on his role in the squad.

Ancelotti described the striker as a "really good" and "efficient" striker in the box, while also saying he would be needed for “some games.”

That appears to be a compliment but the Italian has also suggested Tosun will not be more than a back-up in his tenure.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin is now the clear first-choice up front, but Tosun did appear from the bench against Newcastle.
