Everton midfielder sees loan move collapse

Beni Baningime's proposed loan move to Blackpool has collapsed.

Everton and the League One side were close to agreeing a deal to send the 21-year-old to Bloomfield Road for the season.

But the ECHO understands that the move is now off.

It is not yet clear why Baningime's switch has fallen through - or if there is any hope of it being revived - but the midfielder will continue to train with Everton's under-23s.

The Academy graduate played in the second string's pre-season friendly against Runcorn Town, at Finch Farm, on Saturday.

Baningime is looking to kick-start his career after a frustrating series of injuries interrupted his loan with Wigan Athletic last year and meant the spent last season with David Unsworth's side.

The central midfielder has made 12 appearances for Everton's first-team and is into the final two years of his contract at Goodison.

Baningime was joined in the Everton u-23s team at the weekend by Josh Bowler, Nathan Broadhead and Matty Pennington, who are also expected to leave the club this summer, either on loan or in permanent moves.
