Everton midfielder Nathangelo Markelo joins FC Twente on loan

Everton midfielder Nathangelo Markelo has joined Dutch outfit FC Twente on loan until the end of the season.

The 21-year-old signed a new two-year-contract earlier this month and Everton were keen to secure him a campaign of senior football after impressing at under-23 level since joining from FC Volendam in 2017.

Markelo told the FC Twente website: "I recently renewed my contract with Everton, but there is not yet a direct view of a place in the first team.

"The chance of this is greater at FC Twente and that is why it is good for me to play here this year. I know the club well, because Jahnoah, my younger brother plays in the academy.

Markelo has been involved with first-team training under Carlo Ancelotti but is yet to make his first-team debut at Goodison Park.
