Everton may change Anthony Gordon loan stance but Bernard future holds key

Everton could yet decide to send Anthony Gordon out on loan for the rest of the season if the club cannot offload Bernard.

The Blues had no intention of sending Gordon to another team but with the club, so far, finding it difficult to shift the Brazilian, they have reconsidered.

Everton's plan was that with the transfer of Bernard, Gordon would get more opportunities to play this season and continue his development under Carlo Ancelotti at Goodison.

But the club's trouble in finding a new club for Bernard means 20-year-old Gordon could move before Monday night's deadline.

A host of clubs in the Championship, and several in Germany's Bundesliga, have enquired about signing Gordon on loan until the end of the campaign and know that their chances are tied up in the future of Bernard.

Gordon has had to bide his time under Ancelotti this season, playing only three times in the Premier League.

The Academy product started against Sheffield United on Boxing Day and has played four times in the cup competitions.

The winger was an unused substitute in the 1-1 draw with Leicester City last night.

Everton are next in action at home to Newcastle United on Saturday afternoon.
