Everton manager latest as Carlo Ancelotti flies to London for Farhad Moshiri talks

Carlo Ancelotti has flown to London for talks with Everton over becoming the club's new manager.

The 60-year-old is now the leading candidate to replace the sacked Marco Silva and further discussions, after an initial meeting last week, with the club's board of directors will take place today.

Everton issued a statement last night to clarify that no formal contract offer had been made to Ancelotti or any of the "number" of candidates on their short-list.

But the former Chelsea and Real Madrid boss is firmly in the club's sights.

And face-to-face talks with majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri and other Goodison power brokers are expected to happen today.

After being sacked by Napoli last week, Ancelotti was ready to wait until the summer for a new job.

But he is interested by what Everton have had to say and is keen to learn more.

Ancelotti, the ECHO understands, is looking for clarity over the Blues' plans for the summer transfer window and will seek more information over Moshiri's project.

It has been suggested that Everton would present the three-time Champions League winning boss a three-and-a-half-year deal should talks progress to that stage and a formal offer is made.
