Everton make managerial decision as Arsenal fans' wait for Mikel Arteta goes on

Everton have confirmed that caretaker boss Duncan Ferguson will remain in charge for the Carabao Cup quarter-final against Leicester City at Goodison Park on Wednesday evening, the Liverpool Echo reports .

Ferguson was appointed interim boss following the departure of Marco Silva earlier this month and has steadied the ship, securing a victory over Chelsea in his first match and drawing with Manchester United on Sunday.

However, it was not known whether he would remain in the dugout for the midweek hosting of the Foxes, stating after the draw against United that he did not know what the situation was - adding that he will hold talks with Farhad Moshiri.

"I really don't know. I think I will be, yeah. It's obviously a quick turnaround for a new guy to come in before Wednesday, so I think I'd be taking the game but I'll speak to the directors and the owner probably tonight, so they can confirm it," he said after the draw at Old Trafford.

The decision has now been confirmed by the club, with Ferguson remaining in charge for the midweek clash and potentially remaining in the position for this weekend's Premier League clash with Arsenal.

Everton have also been attributed with an interest in Manchester City's assistant manager Mikel Arteta but Arsenal seem to have made the first move for his services.

Chief executive Vinai Venkatesham was spotted leaving Arteta's home in Manchester in the early hours of Monday morning, alongside club lawyer Huss Fahmy - who manages contract negotiations for the Gunners.
