Everton make managerial announcement ahead of Arsenal clash amid Carlo Ancelotti links

Both Arsenal and Everton are expected to have new managers in the coming days.

It is a matter of when, rather than if Mikel Arteta takes the reins at Arsenal to become Unai Emery's long-term replacement.

And all indications are that Carlo Ancelotti will be the next Everton boss, following Marco Silva's sacking.

But will either be in place before the two teams meet at Goodison Park on Saturday lunchtime?

It looks as if both new bosses could be watching on from the stands at Goodison Park, rather than in the dugout, as the weekend's game edges ever closer.

Neither side have confirmed their appointments yet, and Everton have made a decision ahead of the game.

Ancelotti will not be in the dugout for the game, with Everton confirming that caretaker boss Duncan Ferguson will remain in charge of the Toffees for the visit of the Gunners.

In a statement on the club's website, they said: "Duncan Ferguson will remain as caretaker manager for Everton's Premier League clash at home to Arsenal on Saturday.

"The former striker has been in temporary charge of the Blues for the past three matches, overseeing the 3-1 win against Chelsea at Goodison, a 1-1 draw at Manchester United and Wednesday night's Carabao Cup quarter-final against Leicester which Everton lost on penalties after coming from two goals down to draw 2-2.

"Ferguson will again be assisted by coaches John Ebbrell and Francis Jeffers and goalkeeper coach Alan Kelly."
