Everton make major donation as club continues to help those at risk during coronavirus outbreak

Everton have donated fresh food from the club's Finch Farm training ground to a foodbank in the city.

Fresh produce that was intended for players and staff has been given to the North Liverpool Foodbank from where it will be packaged into parcels for delivery across the area.

The Blues' training base has been on lockdown for over a week after the club took the precautionary measure of closing the facility, along with their offices at the Royal Liver Building and at Goodison, after a first-team player reported symptoms consistent with coronavirus.

Everton's players have been training at home with the Premier League still suspended until at least the end of April and so the fresh food that was meant for them has now been passed on for distribution across the north of the city.

Earlier this week, the club launched their Blue Family campaign and injected £50,000 into a programme they hope will help those people vulnerable, isolated and at risk during the coronavirus outbreak.

Many of Everton in the Community's programmes have been put on hold but the club are still trying keep in touch with those people the charity would regularly help.

Everton’s Neighbourhood Manager Sarah Atherton said: “Everybody is coming together, we’ve been contacting vulnerable fans, our neighbours in the Blue Mile and participants across EitC’s 43 projects – and the response brings a tear of pride to your eye.

“Hearing people thanking you for checking in on them brings you so much happiness.

"We will be joining other organisations in coming to NLF to package emergency parcels and assist with their distribution city wide.

“Communities are coming together in this current climate under the Blue Family campaign. And together we are stronger.”
