Everton make Carlo Ancelotti 'decision' ahead of visit from Arsenal and Mikel Arteta

Duncan Ferguson will be in the Everton dugout for Saturday's clash against Arsenal.

That's according to Sky Sports who claim that the Toffees have made the decision to stick with the former striker for the visit of the Gunners following a win over Chelsea as well as a draw away at Manchester United.

Those results have come in the period since Ferguson replaced Marco Silva as interim head coach.

However, that's set to be Ferguson's final game in temporary charge.

That's because Sky Italy are reporting that Carlo Ancelotti will be confirmed as the new permanent manager by the end of the week and will be in the stands for the Arsenal game.

Furthermore, it's understood that the former Chelsea boss will sign a four-and-a-half year deal at Goodison Park with his first game taking place on Boxing Day against Burnley.

As a result, the Italian will avoid a meeting with Mikel Arteta.

The Spaniard is set to become the new Arsenal head coach ahead of the trip to Merseyside after being given Pep Guardiola's blessing to step out on his own.

"It is uncomfortable for me," Guardiola said, as per ESPN . "It is a question for Mikel, I am not in his brain. We talk about it a little bit but his feelings are his feelings.

"If he decides to move I'll wish him all the best, for him, his family and for his professional future. I will beat him - that's a joke!

"He was honest with me, he explained everything that happened, the steps but after that I didn't ask what you want to do.

"I don't want to be involved. I am a guy that [lets] the people live with freedom.

"I said many times, it's the same with the players, if they have other desires or wishes whatever, what can we do? We are not going to tell him, stay, stay stay, if he doesn't want to stay.

"He knows exactly what we think about him, at the club, after that, we cannot do more.

"I think the club has done everything and we cannot do anymore."
