Everton make AGM decision as directors set for questioning

Everton expect to hold their 2021 Annual General Meeting [AGM] with shareholders virtually.

Everton believe the previous AGM - held online in January 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic - attracted the largest shareholder audience since meetings were reintroduced in 2013 and was the 'most inclusive General Meeting' in the history of the club.

Shareholders have now been written to with a proposal to amend the Articles of Association to allow for future meetings to take place either virtually or in person.

An Everton statement confirmed a date has not yet been set for the upcoming AGM.

It read: "It is expected that, once the resolution amending the Articles of Association has passed, the next General Meeting will take place virtually with shareholders once again able to submit questions in advance which will be answered by directors on the night.

"Shareholders will also be able to ask questions live and take part in votes in real time.

"Although, as a private company, Everton is not obliged to hold an Annual General Meeting, the club’s Articles of Association do state that shareholders’ meeting should be held once a year, and this proposal will not alter that commitment.

"The date for the next General Meeting has not been set and will be communicated in due course.

"Shareholders will be given clear guidance on how to join and participate in the meeting at the appropriate time."
