Everton loanees speak out on their Bolton Wanderers experiences

Everton loanees Joe Williams and Callum Connolly have both spoken out over their experiences at Bolton Wanderers.

The former has spent the whole of 2018/19 with the Trotters, while his Blues teammate made the switch to Phil Parkinson's club in the January transfer window.

Bolton's struggles, both on and off the pitch, this term have been well documented.

The club is facing being wound-up over debts of around £3 million and the players recently refused to play their scheduled game against Brentford due to unpaid wages - but did complete 90 minutes for the last match of the campaign against Nottingham Forest this weekend.

Williams missed Sunday's 1-0 defeat thanks to a hamstring injury, but Connolly was part of the Bolton starting line-up.

And both Everton loanees have taken to social media to thank the club for giving them the opportunity to play - and share their dismay at the dreadful position the Trotters currently find themselves in.

Williams tweeted: "Would like to say thank you to all the staff and the players at Bolton Wanderers who have been brilliant with me all year, and also a massive thank you to all the fans who have supported and stuck by us all season no matter what the circumstances.

"A club of this size doesn't deserve to be going through what it is going through at the moment and I hope everything is sorted and Bolton can get back to where they belong soon."

Despite being there for a shorter amount of time, Connolly reiterated his teammate's message.

He said: "Big thanks to the staff, players and fans for the last few months. A club of that stature shouldn’t be where it is. Hope everything gets sorted as soon as possible and the club is back where it belongs."

Bolton face being wound-up on Wednesday morning, and any potential administration would see them start the 2019/20 term in League One with a 12-point deduction.

Williams and Connolly have now both returned to Everton with the view of spending pre-season with the club and hoping to impress Marco Silva.
