Everton loanee Sandro Ramirez continues disappointing goal drought with penalty miss

The last couple of years certainly have not been kind for Everton forward Sandro Ramirez.

The Blues won the race for the striker in the summer of 2017, managing to bring the Spaniard to Goodison Park for a cut-price deal after a strong season with Malaga.

However, the forward hasn't been able to recapture that good form since.

Sandro was sent out on loan to Sevilla in January 2018 having scored just one goal for his new club, a consolation in a 5-1 defeat to Atalanta in November 2017 - which was his last senior goal.

Since then the striker has spent a season on loan with Real Sociedad and is now once again plying his trade in La Liga on a temporary basis with Real Valladolid.

And, on Sunday, the 24-year-old was handed the perfect chance to finally break his long goal drought in his loan side's match against Atletico Madrid as he was entrusted in taking a penalty.

However, he couldn't take the chance.

Sandro blasted his penalty over the bar and narrowly put another effort wide in the second half before being substituted in the 69th minute - with the two sides playing out a 0-0 draw.

That takes the Spaniard's drought to 53 matches across his selection of clubs since that strike against Atalanta.

The 24-year-old is under contract at Goodison Park until 2021.
