Everton loanee Jonjoe Kenny breaks down life in Germany and his responsibilities at Schalke

Jonjoe Kenny has opened up on life in Germany as he prepares to begin the Bundesliga season this weekend.

The Everton right back completed a loan move to Schalke early in the summer - with the Blues eventually replacing him with the temporary signing of Djibril Sidibe in the closing stages of the transfer window.

The 22-year-old played the full 90 minutes as David Wagner's side cruised to a 5-0 win over SV Drochtersen/Assel in the first round of the DFB-Pokal.

And, speaking to the club's official website , the defender explained the responsibilities handed to him in Schalke's new setup - and why he is enjoying his time under his new manager.

"I like the way we play a lot, I like the way the coach has brought his ideas over," Kenny remarked.

"Obviously it takes time, but I think in the last two games it's really coming together.

"Of course there's a lot to improve on, but that takes time. It's a new staff, some new players, it's a new way of football.

"I like to defend, I like to get forward as well.

"The manager wants me to get forward as much as possible and that's what I like to do, I like to get involved in attacking plays.

"I need to create more chances for our players, that's part of my job now. I want to do as much as I can."

Settling into a new country and culture takes time, but Kenny is loving life in Germany at the minute.

When asked how his German is coming along, the Everton defender replied: "Yeah it's ok!

"I understand a few words, I understand what people are saying, but it's difficult at first.

"It's a whole new language, it's like starting from scratch again.

"But, it's an unbelievable experience as I've said before. I know how lucky I am to get this experience, so I just want to take it and learn as much as I can.

"I love where I live, I love German life right now.

"My family are over too and they enjoy Germany, so it's going great and I feel at home here."
