Everton loan star Henry Onyekuru wins league ahead of possible summer Blues boost

Everton striker Henry Onyekuru has bagged perhaps his most crucial goal yet on loan at Galatasaray.

The 21-year-old star scored the winner in a 2-1 victory over Istanbul Basaksehir tonight to secure the league title for his side.

It caps a fine few days for the Nigerian after he helped Galatasaray lift the Turkish Cup on Wednesday as Fatih Terim’s men came from behind to defeat Akhisar Belediyespor 3-1.

Richarlison's agent makes Everton price tag claim and speaks out on 'flattering' rumours

And it takes his tally in Turkey up to an impressive 16 goals in all competitions this campaign.

However, as reported earlier this week, his excellent loan spell will have no direct bearing on his quest for a work permit.

But better news for the Blues could come as a result of this summer's Africa Cup of Nations.

Nigeria are drawn in Group B along with Burundi, Guinea and Madagascar - and appearances for his national side can support Onyekuru's chances of playing in the Premier League next term.

Onyekuru only had two caps for his country when he signed for Everton in 2017.

The moment that transformed Fraser Hornby's Everton career - and what the future could hold

But has since collected five more as well as notching his first international goal back in March against the Seychelles.

Nigeria's current FIFA ranking of 37th means he would have to appear in 75% of their matches across two years to receive an automatic work permit.

As the ECHO reported back in Feburary , the Blues are increasingly hopeful they will have a robust case to present to the FA in order to get the green light for Onyekuru to play next season.
