Everton line-ups with Lucas Digne switch and Abdoulaye Doucoure rested for Man City

'Ancelotti needs to make Lucas Digne switch'

Phil Kirkbride: Everton's most resilient defensive showings have come with a back four of: Holgate, Mina, Keane and Godfrey.

And that is how Ancelotti should set up his backline this evening against Manchester City.

But that doesn't mean dropping Lucas Digne but, instead, asking him to play in a more advanced role on the left, as he did against Wolves, for example.

Allan needs to come straight back into the team, alongside Abdoulaye Doucoure, with James Rodriguez on the right.

Given Dominic Calvert-Lewin is still injured, Ancelotti should give Josh King his first Everton start.

My team (4-4-2): Pickford, Holgate, Mina, Keane, Godfrey, Rodriguez, Doucoure, Allan, Digne, Richarlison, King

'Eyes trained on vulnerable Liverpool'

Dave Prentice: Manchester City and Liverpool are both very, very, very good teams.

But Liverpool are occasionally vulnerable. City, at present, are not.

So tonight's starting line-up is governed largely by the players I'd like to see start Saturday night's derby .... and the knowledge that tonight's team will be giving up plenty of possession and needing to defend.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin is so important I'd leave him on the bench to rest that niggling hamstring issue. For that same reason Lucas Digne is rested and the endlessly versatile - and excellent - Ben Godfrey used at left back, and Abdoulaye Doucoure is also given a well earned rest until he's needed to replace Allan.

So sue me ...

My team (4-3-3): Pickford; Coleman, Mina , Keane, Godfrey; Allan (for an hour), Gomes, Davies; Sigurdsson, Richarlison, King.

'Another selection headache'

Connor O'Neill: After Sunday’s disappointing defeat to Fulham, it is safe to say that Carlo Ancelotti has another selection headache tonight.

Changes are needed, and should Jordan Pickford be passed fit to play, then he should come in for Robin Olsen.

At the back, Yerry Mina should partner Michael Keane at the heart of the defence, with Ben Godfrey starting at right-back, and Lucas Digne continuing at left-back.

While in midfield, Abdoulaye Doucoure should be partnered by Allan, with James Rodriguez just in front of them.

Out wide, Alex Iwobi should start on the right, with Richarlison on the left, and Josh King up top.

My team (4-3-3): Pickford, Godfrey, Keane, Mina, Digne, Doucoure, Allan, Rodriguez, Iwobi, Richarlison, King.
