Everton line ups vs Watford - Jean-Philippe Gbamin and Moise Kean should make home debuts

Phil Kirkbride: Ever the optimist, this selection is done in the hope Andre Gomes shakes off his ankle injury and is fit to play.

If Gomes doesn't make it then Tom Davies would come in unless, of course, Silva changed formation to 4-3-3 and dropped Sigurdsson in there with them.

In that case, it could mean Bernard playing as the No10, Richarlison going wide left and Theo Walcott on the other flank.

If new-boy Alex Iwobi is fit then that gives Silva different options behind the striker.

But hoping that Gomes is fit, Everton should stick with a 4-2-3-1 formation for this game.

My team (4-2-3-1) - Pickford, Coleman, Keane, Mina, Digne, Gbamin, Gomes, Richarlison, Sigurdsson, Bernard, Calvert-Lewin.

Adam Jones - The team almost picks itself

Unfortunately, it seems selection issues are really set to hamper Marco Silva this week.

It would be a brave man to make any changes to the back line at the minute as Everton look to continue their defensive record - and I am not that man.

In midfield is where a certain headache arises, but it's one which presents an obvious solution at the same time.

Andre Gomes shouldn't be risked, Fabian Delph has been ruled out, and Morgan Schneiderlin is suspended. So that leaves Jean-Philippe Gbamin and Tom Davies to pick up the two positions behind Gylfi Sigurdsson.

It shows the strength of Everton's squad in general that they are left with two quality options after such issues have arisen.

Up front there is another decision to be made and supporters will be desperate to see Moise Kean in action.

If the youngster is fit, he should start, with Bernard and Richarlison either side of him. Alex Iwobi will hopefully provide a solid option from the bench.

My team (4-2-3-1) - Pickford; Coleman, Keane, Mina, Digne; Gbamin, Davies; Richarlison, Sigurdsson, Bernard; Kean

Chris Beesley - Now it seems Everton could have done with Doucoure

After snapping up no fewer than three new central midfielders this summer, Evertonians raised a few quizzical eyebrows when Marco Silva tried to prise Abdoulaye Doucoure away from Watford in the final days of the transfer window.

However, given Fabian Delph's injury on the eve of the campaign being followed by Andre Gomes going off injured at Crystal Palace and Morgan Schneiderlin then given his marching orders, all of a sudden the Blues could do with some additional cover in the engine room to combat Doucoure, who of course stayed put at the Hornets.

Idrissa Gueye's successor Jean-Philippe Gbamin admitted before the Selhurst Park trip that he might still be somewhat off the pace and it showed with a difficult baptism against the Eagles but needs must and he comes in for his first start, alongside fellow substitute from a week ago, Tom Davies.

After drawing another blank last time out I'd also make a change up front an unleash Moise Kean from the start, coming in for Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

My team (4-3-3) - Pickford; Coleman, Digne, Keane, Mina; Gbamin, Davies, Sigurdsson; Richarlison, Bernard, Kean.

Sam Carroll - Time to let Kean loose

Fabian Delph and Andre Gomes have given Marco Silva an injury headache with Tom Davies handed an early opportunity to earn a midfield shirt.

Jean-Philippe Gbamin, too, will have a baptism of fire against Watford with Everton needing to set an early pacemaker against the Hornets.

I'd let Moise Kean loose from the start, too, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin an impact substitute.
