Everton line ups vs Aston Villa as Moise Kean and Jarrad Branthwaite start

Time for Ancelotti to mix it up with season over

Adam Jones: Well, there's not really much for Everton to play for this season anymore apart from pride.

So, why not use this opportunity to experiment with the line-up a little bit more than usual? What is there to lose?

The only way Carlo Ancelotti will learn about his young players is giving them minutes, as we've seen to great effect with Anthony Gordon over the past few weeks.

To that end, why not keep Jarrad Branthwaite in the side? Let's see what he can do from the start of a match. He might not be ready, but now is as good a time as any to find out.

He should partner the returning Mason Holgate to give MIchael Keane a well-deserved rest, with Lucas Digne and Seamus Coleman making up a back four.

Gordon should keep his place on the left of midfield with Andre Gomes also coming back into the centre alongside Tom Davies for lack of other options - with Theo Walcott on the right flank to continue his injury recovery.

Now is surely the time to give Moise Kean his first start since January. He can replace Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who is another player long overdue a brief rest.

My team (4-4-2) - Pickford; Coleman, Holgate, Branthwaite, Digne; Walcott, Davies, Gomes, Gordon; Kean, Richarlison

Can Everton afford to experiment in these last three games?

Phil Kirkbride: Ancelotti should. The Everton boss should give some of the younger players more exposure to Premier League football because when next season starts again, he will not be afforded the luxury of having three games with nothing hanging on them.

Branthwaite and Beni Baningime could come in from the start against Villa, Kean could be given a long overdue start and Calvert-Lewin could be given the sorely needed breather.

But each position in the table is worth money to the club - around £2.5m per place - and so can Ancelotti afford to 'gamble', if you like, on these last three matches?

It's tough. Hopefully he can find a balance that gives game-time to the younger players whilst ensuring the Blues remain as competitive as possible.

And what about asking Mason Holgate to do a job in midfield again? There's an argument to say the engine room needs him more than the defence right now.

My team (4-4-2): Pickford, Sidibe, Keane, Branthwaite, Digne, Walcott, Gomes, Holgate, Gordon, Richarlison, Kean.

A message must be made with midfield changes

Sam Carroll: A couple of weeks ago I said I didn't think Carlo Ancelotti could change it with the options available to him.

Now he has to.

The midfield has to change and with it a message must be sent.

Beni Baningime is not likely to be part of the future under Ancelotti but he would at least have a point to prove. Andre Gomes returns and despite being ready, I wouldn't rush Mason Holgate. He is too important to the long-term.

Up-front, Dominic Calvert-Lewin has a new partner in Moise Kean with Richarlison pushed out wide.

My team (4-4-2): Pickford, Coleman, Branthwaite, Keane, Digne, Richarlison, Baningime, Gomes, Gordon, Kean, Calvert-Lewin
