Everton line-ups vs Arsenal as Mason Holgate role changes and Jordan Pickford decision made

'Some of Gomes' best form came in this formation'

Phil Kirkbride: The expectation is that Everton will have to set up to be slightly more adventurous against a struggling Arsenal, than they have in recent weeks.

But this isn't the time to return to 4-3-3 because the team is still missing key personnel who make the system work.

Plus, a hurting Gunners would lap up an open game which allows their pacey forwards to be given the room to run at Everton's back four - even if they have looked very solid of late.

But that's the key, keeping that solidity at the back and in front of them.

Abdoulaye Doucoure needs to have another big game, with Allan out, but Andre Gomes should get the nod to play alongside him.

Some of Gomes' best Everton form came when he had a run of games in this formation alongside Idrissa Gueye.

My team (4-2-3-1): Pickford, Holgate, Keane, Mina, Godfrey, Doucoure, Gomes, Iwobi, Sigurdsson, Richarlison, Calvert-Lewin

'A big day for Andre Gomes'

Sam Carroll: You wouldn’t usually change a winning team. But the return of Seamus Coleman does give food for thought.

Jordan Pickford will return in goal while Andre Gomes comes in for the injured Allan. It’s a big day for the Portuguese midfielder to show what he’s all about.

I would be tempted to rest Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Alex Iwobi but Arsenal remain a threat regardless of their limp start to the season.

With that in mind, only the two changes are required.

My team (4-3-3): Pickford; Holgate, Mina, Keane, Godfrey; Doucoure, Gomes, Sigurdsson; Iwobi, Calvert-Lewin, Richarlison.

'Move Mason Holgate into midfield'

Connor O'Neill: The big question facing Carlo Ancelotti is who replaces Allan.

Andre Gomes and Tom Davies are the two obvious candidates, but if I was Carlo I’d try something different.

With Seamus Coleman expected to return, I’d start him at right-back and move Mason Holgate into midfield alongside Abdoulaye Doucoure and Gylfi Sigurdsson.

Jordan Pickford, one imagines will also return in goal, with Yerry Mina, Michael Keane and Ben Godfrey joining Coleman at the back.

Richarlison and Alex Iwobi will no doubt start on either flank, and Dominic Calvert-Lewin will once again the lead the line.

My team (4-1-2-3): Pickford; Coleman, Mina, Keane, Godfrey; Holgate, Doucoure, Sigurdsson; Iwobi, Richarlison, Calvert-Lewin.
