Everton line-ups for Brighton as Alex Iwobi and Ben Godfrey decisions made

Iwobi to start as Townsend unlucky

Phil Kirkbride: Everton trained on Friday afternoon before flying to Brighton so Rafa Benitez was unable to offer a full list of available players.

But even though James Rodriguez has returned to training, it would represent too much of a risk to include him in the squad this close to deadline day.

Ben Godfrey travelled with the squad to Huddersfield Town on Tuesday but was not deemed ready to start and it is seemingly not possible to push him back into the starting line-up at this stage.

Should Alex Iwobi shake off his injury problem then he deserves to start alongside Demarai Gray and Richarlison in the three behind Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Andros Townsend can consider himself unlucky but Iwobi warrants a place in the XI.

My team (4-2-3-1): Pickford, Coleman, Keane, Mina, Digne, Allan, Doucoure, Iwobi, Gray, Richarlison, Calvert-Lewin.

Godfrey would have got the nod...

Adam Jones: You can bet it will be 'nearly' all-change for Everton this weekend following their midweek exploits.

But, how different should Rafa Benitez really go from the side that drew with Leeds last Saturday?

I would argue things should stay relatively similar from that game, with Alex Iwobi keeping his place in the side despite Andros Townsend also scoring in midweek.

In fact the only change would have come at the back. Ben Godfrey travelled with the squad to Huddersfield but wasn't deemed ready.

If he was anywhere near fit now, he should be in the Everton side.

Although an image on social media suggested he was in York yesterday evening - meaning that Keane could still be in the eleven, despite a less-than-confident start to the season.

My team (4-4-2): Pickford; Coleman, Mina, Keane, Digne; Iwobi, Allan, Doucoure, Gray; Richarlison, Calvert-Lewin.

Gray and Townsend on the flanks

Connor O'Neill: After making nine changes for Tuesday’s Carabao Cup win over Huddersfield Town, Rafa Benitez is surely expected to make a similar number this afternoon.

Jordan Pickford will no doubt return in goal, replacing Asmir Begovic who made his Blues debut against Carlos Corberan’s side.

While Seamus Coleman is likely to replace Jonjoe Kenny and Lucas Digne should come in for Niels Nkounkou at left-back.

Benitez confirmed after the game on Tuesday that Ben Godfrey is now out of isolation and one would have imagined he would come in for Michael Keane for his first start of the season.

But judging by the image on Twitter, it appears a return is more likely after the international break.

Given his display at the weekend, Yerry Mina should return to the starting line-up in place of Mason Holgate.

Tom Davies and Jean-Philippe Gbamin certainly impressed in midfield at the John Smith’s Stadium, but again it is hard to look past Allan and Abdoulaye Doucoure both returning.

While Demarai Gray and Andros Townsend should line-up on either flank at the Amex, with Richarlison and Dominic Calvert-Lewin ahead of them.

My team (4-2-3-1): Pickford, Coleman, Mina, Keane, Digne, Allan, Doucoure, Townsend, Gray, Richarlison, Calvert-Lewin.
