Everton line ups as Tom Davies starts vs Manchester United

'Davies should step into the side'

Adam Jones: A potential injury to Alex Iwobi just adds to Rafa Benitez's long list of Everton concerns, and could lead to a change of formation here.

Rather than a 4-4-2 or 4-2-3-1, the Blues could be better suited to having a 4-3-3 setup against Manchester United to have more bodies in the middle of the pitch.

With Andre Gomes still injured, Tom Davies should step into the side in that case. He was fantastic in the second half of last season's 3-3 draw at Old Trafford and should be given the opportunity to impress again.

Jean-Philippe Gbamin could also be an option for this but having only just returned from injury, this might not be the best match to throw him in.

Injuries will severely limit the amount of other changes Benitez will be able to make, but a back four is surely crucial to Everton here rather than changing things too much with a back five.

My team (4-3-3): Pickford; Godfrey, Mina, Keane, Digne; Allan, Davies, Doucoure; Townsend, Rondon, Gray.

'The perfect chance for Rondon to announce himself as an Everton player'

Tom Cavilla: Everton's injury struggles have gone from bad to worse ahead of this weekend's trip to Manchester United.

Rafa Benitez's defensive selections are likely to be as expected, but it's in midfield and attack where the Spaniard is faced with problems.

Alex Iwobi is now a doubt for Saturday's contest, meaning Tom Davies could be brought into the team as part of change in approach.

Summer signings Andros Townsend and Demarai Gray, meanwhile, will be hopeful of causing problems to a United defence that will be lacking the presence of captain Harry Maguire.

Had Richarlison and Dominic Calvert-Lewin been fit to face United, Everton could have had every reason to fancy their chances of three points.

Without this attacking duo, the Blues will have to count on Salomon Rondon to cause the Red Devils' backline trouble throughout proceedings.

This could be the perfect opportunity for the Venezuelan forward to well and truly announce himself as an Everton player.

My team (4-2-3-1): Pickford, Godfrey, Mina, Keane, Digne; Doucoure, Allan; Davies, Gray, Townsend; Rondon.
