Everton line-ups as James Rodriguez and Josh King decisions made

'Tom Davies can count himself unfortunate'

Phil Kirkbride

Everton should use the formation that worked so well at West Ham last weekend for this must-win game.

Ancelotti's options on the right hand side of attack are limited but, at least, if he has the energy and work-rate of Coleman out there, it at least provides adequate protection for the back three and will allow James Rodriguez to roam as he sees fit.

Tom Davies can count himself unfortunate not to be in the starting XI but the return of Doucoure to fitness means he has to start on the bench for this one

My team (3-4-1-2): Pickford, Holgate, Keane, Godfrey, Coleman, Allan, Doucoure, Digne, Rodriguez, Richarlison, Calvert-Lewin.

'Time for Ancelotti to release the shackles'

Chris Beesley

With six clean sheets from the last seven away games, Carlo's Catenaccio has kept Everton on the cusp of the European places but now is the time for Ancelotti to release the shackles to end his side's Goodison Blues.

Everton have picked up almost twice as many points on the road than they have at the Grand Old Lady this term.

However, with two crucial fixtures on their own turf in this final week of the season, they need wins to climb the table and secure their position in continental competition next term.

Already relegated Sheffield United come to Merseyside rock bottom of the table and the Blues need to pick a bold, attacking team to exploit that.

There's certainly no need for three centre-backs here so Mason Holgate makes way with a flat back four deployed.

Gylfi Sigurdsson also drops to the bench to enable James Rodriguez to have a central role while to increase the firepower in the final third, at long last Josh King is given a start on the left with the out-of-sorts Richarlison moved to the right flank in a three-pronged attack in the hope the switch can get him firing again.

My team (4-3-3): Pickford; Coleman, Digne, Keane, Godfrey; Allan, Doucoure, James; Richarlison, Calvert-Lewin, King.

'More attacking verve needed'

Sam Carroll: Everton need goals and a dominant performance against Sheffield United.

So will we finally see Josh King?

I doubt it.

But Carlo Ancelotti needs more attacking verve from his midfield, and where is he going to find it?

The fear is a trio of Allan, Abdoulaye Doucoure and Tom Davies - all deserved starters - would be too conservative in their overall approach.

I would put James Rodriguez in the middle with Allan and Doucoure and allow Gylfi Sigurdsson to explore from the left.

My team (4-3-3): Pickford; Coleman, Godfrey, Keane, Digne; Allan, Doucoure, Rodriguez; Richarlison, Calvert-Lewin, Sigurdsson
