Everton legend sends Marco Silva transfer message after assessing first season at Goodison Park

Everton legend Tim Cahill was on hand to provide some expert punditry on Friday night as the Toffees defeated Burnley 2-0.

It was a game which marked the end of Everton's home campaign and it's safe to say that the club has enjoyed some good form of late.

At points in the season Marco Silva has been under pressure but the end to the campaign points to a positive future.

However, when you analyse the campaign in relation to last season, it's not exactly all roses and daffodils. That's certainly the way Everton legend turned pundit Cahill sees it.

He describes Everton's season as 'okay' but he feels they are not too far way from competing for the Premier League top six again. The missing ingredient? An out-an-out striker.

"When you look at it it's been an okay season. Last season was 49 points in comparison to 53 this time around," Cahill told Sky Sports.

"The striking position has been the issue. It's been an okay season. They need an out-an-out striker."

The comfortable victory over Burnley now sees Everton move up to eighth in the Premier League with one match left in the season. Compare this to last season's eighth place and it's another campaign of relative mediocrity. The hope is that the recent run is a sign of things to come under Silva as the club aim for bigger and better things next term.
