Everton legend gives Wilfried Zaha verdict and fires transfer warning for Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace would be sensible to never let Wilfried Zaha go, amid interest from Arsenal, Everton and Napoli this summer.

That's the verdict of Everton legend Neville Southall, who has spoken out about his old club's interest in the Ivory Coast international, who has also been heavily linked with Arsenal, while Italian side Napoli have also reportedly been monitoring Zaha.

And while Southall believes that he would be a good signing for the Toffees, who have had a bid turned down for the 26-year-old Palace star, he says he cannot see it happening.

“I don’t   think he’ll [Zaha] go to Everton full stop, but it would have been a good a signing for us [Everton]," Neville said, speaking to VoucherCodes.co.uk .

"I think coming from Crystal Palace, Everton would be a step up and I do think if you look at what we have coming in the future, Everton would have been a better long-term prospect, but I don’t think the transfer is going to happen."

Nevertheless, he feels that Everton are moving in the right direction, although his comments on Palace may not go down well with the Eagles supporters ahead of the opening day clash between the two sides at Selhurst Park.

“We [Everton] have a new ground coming, new players coming and someone who can bank roll a club, therefore I think the club is going forward," he said.

"Let’s be honest Crystal Palace are going to be down the bottom half of the table again this season, because their finances and ability to buy players isn’t there for them.

“It looks to me as if they are rushing on signing thousands of players. As soon as they let Zaha go for £80million, everyone knows you’ve got £80 million and a 30-million-pound player quickly becomes a 40-million-pound player because they know you have cash. If they are sensible, they would never let him go. If you have someone who can score goals you can stay in the league.”

Neville Southall was speaking to  VoucherCodes.co.uk  as part of their Greatest Savers campaign.
