Everton 'lead the race' to sign Manchester United target Moises Caicedo and more rumours

Everton are leading the race for Manchester United target Moises Caicedo, according to reports.

Amad Diallo was officially unveiled as a United player on Thursday and while the club aren't expected to conduct much more business in the January transfer window they are hoping to bring in teenage sensation Caicedo.

The highly-rated Independiente del Vall midfielder is already a regular for his club and has earned four caps for the Ecuadorian national team, turning the heads of several clubs.

M.E.N. Sport reported in December  that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side are aiming to finalise a deal in the region of €6million for the player, which could include a 20 per cent sell on clause.

Reports in Ecuador last month claimed the deal was already 'official' but a source close to the negotiations told the M.E.N. that talks are still ongoing.

However, according to Ecuadorian publication Extra, United's move for Caicedo has 'come to nothing' and Independiente are now waiting for offers from other clubs.

It's claimed that Everton are now winning the chase for the 19-year-old, though an MLS side - thought to be Atlanta United - are also in the running.

Meanwhile, United are reportedly very interested in signing Toulouse starlet Kouadio Kone this year.

The 19-year-old has established himself as a regular in the Ligue 2 side this season and has played 17 games, grabbing a single goal and assist.

French publication  Foot Mercato   claim United and Borussia Moenchengladbach are both showing interest in the midfielder, who is also being linked with Leeds.
