Everton keeper Jordan Pickford explains how he has taken form to new level

Jordan Pickford has lifted the lid on how he’s returned to top form in recent months.

The Everton goalkeeper endured some difficult moments earlier in the season as high-profile mistakes saw calls for him to be dropped by club and country.

However, he has responded memorably and continues to shine at Euro 2020 after playing a starring role in England’s round-of-16 victory over Germany on Tuesday.

Producing vital saves from Timo Werner and Kai Havertz, the 27-year-old is the only goalkeeper at the tournament yet to concede a goal, having kept a clean sheet in all four of his performances so far.

And Pickford puts his improved performances down to his work on the training pitch as he looks to help England extend their stay at Euro 2020.

“It's just about giving my all, 100% on the training pitch,” he told reporters. “Keep working hard and do everything right.

“Not cutting corners, giving myself the best opportunity when I come to matchday to make sure I'm fully prepared and fully focused, which I have been, and just be the best that I can be, which is all I can do.

“I've just got to be in the moment and help the team as much I can. I train hard all week and give 100% all the time.

“I made two good saves at critical saves, and came for crosses to take the sting out of the game when we were 2-0 up.

“I thought I was in the moment and I need to keep building on it and take it into Saturday.”
