Everton jump the gun on Nathan Broadhead's move to Sunderland, before reversing course

Everton's official website appears to have jumped the gun and announced Nathan Broadhead's move to Sunderland ahead of time.

Over the last 24 hours, the Wales U21 international striker has been strongly linked with a loan switch to Wearside but so far there has been no official confirmation.

But news aggregator NewsNow shows a link to a story timed at 10:21am on Everton's official website titled 'Broadhead joins Sunderland on loan'.

The story has since been taken down, and the link now clicks through to a largely blank page, showing only a list of popular videos on the Everton site.

Normally, the timing of transfer announcements are co-ordinated between the two clubs involved but it seems that Everton have released the news early.

Sunderland fans are now waiting for the news to be officially confirmed by the Black Cats, and for the story to go live on the Everton site.

Broadhead, 23, made his Premier League debut from the bench in a goalless draw at Brighton in April.

Sunderland are keen to bring in another striker to reinforce their attacking options following the summer departure of last season's 31-goal top scorer Charlie Wyke.

Black Cats boss Lee Johnson also hinted last week that striker Will Grigg, who has endured a torrid two-and-a-half year spell at the club, could leave this month, and the arrival of Broadhead may pave the way for his exit.
