Everton issue Michael Keane injury update after Wigan pre-season friendly

Everton have confirmed that defender Michael Keane will today be assessed at USM Finch Farm as the Blues prepare for next weekend's Opel Cup encounter in Germany.

A decision will soon be made as to whether or not he will travel with the rest of the squad to Germany.

Keane was substituted before half-time in last night’s pre-season friendly versus Wigan Athletic and sustained a cut above his eye, which he subsequently received stitches for.

Following the England international’s substitution, Everton were unable to find a winning goal against the Latics, though Fabian Delph made his debut at the DW Stadium and completed the full 90 minutes of action.

Marco Silva’s men will now face Werder Bremen next Saturday, where they will come up against former player Davy Klaassen.
